Due to continued growth, we are looking to add a Collections Specialist to support our office in Buffalo, NY. As a Collections Specialist, you will provide on-going administrative support to the accounting functions, including but not limited to customer correspondence on past-due accounts.

Daily Responsibilities:

• Working with multiple departments to resolve bill disputes.
• Updating internal system on customer data and evaluating past collection efforts.
• Maintaining files on all past due accounts and applying standard due diligence practices to collect monies owed.
• Corresponding to clients for payment acknowledgement along with necessary payment options.
• Determining effective and economical means of collection for each account
• Providing financial counseling and restructuring of payment terms appropriate.
• Performs other duties as requested by supervisor.

You'll be a strong fit if you have:

• Outstanding communication skills; in person, in writing and verbal.
• Knowledge of rules and regulations pertaining to collection methods and techniques.
• Knowledge of rules and regulations relating to consumer credit.
• Knowledge of procedural and legal aspects of collecting. Familiar with regulatory reporting and filing official paperwork.
• Skill in evaluating information or situation and making judgments based on facts.

Preferred Education or Previous Experience:

• Preferred 1-3 years accounting or collections experience.
• Associate degree along with combined experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS and WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Office environment with moderate noise level
• Mostly sedentary role with the need to move about the office to copy, scan, fax and file
• Will require opening of heavy file cabinets with bending, stooping or kneeling to file
• May require light lifting of storage boxes, up to 30 pounds
• Requires constant use of the computer and phone throughout the work day
